In December 2025, an Indian client contacted our company to inquire about a large-scale CNC ring rolling machine. Upon receiving the inquiry, our technical and sales teams responded promptly; through multiple rounds of communication, we gained a comprehensive understanding of the client's product dimensions, production processes, and equipment requirements.
The client set high standards for the production efficiency of large ring forgings, aiming to achieve rapid rolling of large rings within a short timeframe. The target products feature a maximum outer diameter of 7 meters, a height of approximately 1 meter, a wall thickness of around 800 mm, and a maximum single-piece weight of 12 tons.
For such large and heavy ring forgings, particularly the efficient rolling of large-diameter rings, high demands are placed on the equipment manufacturer's technical capabilities and experience. Manufacturers capable of producing 7-meter large ring forgings are considered to possess strong technical expertise in the international market. For our company, this project also represents a significant technical challenge.
Normally, achieving stable rolling of ring forgings with greater wall thickness and higher weight is not the most difficult task. However, for large-diameter, relatively thin-walled ring forgings, especially when rapid rolling within a short period is required, much higher demands are placed on the equipment performance and rolling process technology.
After in-depth discussions, the customer ultimately put forward higher requirements for the equipment configuration, requesting that the large CNC ring rolling machine adopt a dual-position design for the main roll and mandrel to meet the requirements for high-speed and high-precision rolling of large ring forgings.
For a large CNC ring rolling machine, achieving both high-speed rolling and high-precision formingis by no means easy. On the one hand, the machine needs to complete the expansion and forming of large rings within a relatively short period of time. On the other hand, it must also ensure the dimensional accuracy, roundness, and uniform wall thickness of the ring throughout the rolling process.
The operator console designed for the client incorporates an optimized structure based on the German SMS design, providing operators with a wider field of view and enhanced ergonomics. Infrequently used controls are configured as software-based buttons displayed on the computer screen, allowing mechanisms to be operated via the interface; this ensures a clearer and more intuitive control experience for operators during the rolling process.
During the preliminary phase, the two parties engaged in multiple rounds of in-depth communication and negotiation, repeatedly verifying equipment specifications, technical parameters, and implementation requirements. Following several design review sessions, a comprehensive technical solution was finalized. The project then proceeded to the manufacturing stage, encompassing technical design, fabrication, assembly, factory acceptance testing, and on-site installation and commissioning.
To ensure the project remained on schedule, our production team effectively coordinated resources and implemented a two-shift continuous production system. By prioritizing progress while strictly maintaining manufacturing quality, we efficiently completed the production of the entire large-scale CNC ring rolling machine. Upon completion, the client visited our facility to conduct an on-site inspection and acceptance check, comprehensively verifying the manufacturing quality and overall configuration of the equipment.

Subsequently, the complete set of equipment was successfully shipped to the Indian client's facility. Upon arrival, all site conditions met the installation requirements, and our technical personnel promptly commenced installation, commissioning, and trial production. To address the specific operational needs involved in rolling large-scale ring forgings, the technical team continuously fine-tuned and optimized the equipment's operating parameters and rolling processes.
Thanks to the on-site team's dedicated commissioning efforts and close collaboration between both parties, the equipment successfully completed all installation and commissioning phases by July 2026. It was officially put into production at the client's facility, marking the successful delivery of the project.
The successful completion of this project not only demonstrates our company's comprehensive capabilities in the R&D, manufacturing, and delivery of large-scale CNC ring rolling machines but also further enriches our experience in the overseas installation, commissioning, and servicing of equipment for large ring forgings. This provides strong support for the company's continued expansion into the Indian and global markets for large-scale forging equipment.
